Diamond shape refers to the external geometric appearance of a diamond. Learn about round brilliant and fancy shaped diamonds, and discover which diamond shape suits your individual style preferences.
Cut refers to the facets, symmetry, and reflective qualities of a diamond. The cut of a diamond is directly related to its overall sparkle and beauty.
Learn About Diamond CutColor refers to the natural color or lack of color visible within a diamond, based on the GIA grade scale. Jewelercart carries only diamonds within the “colorless” and “near-colorless” range. The closer a diamond is to “colorless,” the rarer it is in value.
Learn About Diamond ColorClarity is determined by the visibility of natural microscopic inclusions and imperfections within a diamond. Diamonds with little to no inclusions are considered particularly rare and highly valued.
Learn About Diamond ClarityCarat is the unit of measurement used to describe the weight of a diamond. It is often the most visually apparent factor when comparing diamonds.
Learn About Diamond CaratJewelercart diamonds are independently verified for quality characteristics and origin. A diamond certificate or grading report provides an expert opinion on the quality of the diamond and is provided by an independent gemology lab. Trained gemologists with specialized equipment measure the weight and dimensions of the diamond and assess quality characteristics such as cut, color, and clarity. Jewelercart diamonds are certified by the world’s leading gem grading labs including GIA, IGI, HRD, and GCAL. Please contact us to request an electronic copy of a diamond's lab certificate.
The main difference between natural and lab diamonds is the way they're created. A natural mined diamond is formed naturally, from high temperatures and pressures beneath the Earth's crust. Lab created diamonds are grown in highly controlled laboratory environments using advanced technological processes that duplicate the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop when they form within the mantle, beneath the Earth’s crust. At Jewelercart, our lab grown diamonds display the same physical, chemical, and optical characteristics as natural diamonds, and exhibit the same fire, scintillation, and sparkle. Using a jewelry loupe, man made diamonds are nearly impossible to differentiate from natural diamonds without specialized equipment.
